BH Wellness Foundation is a nonprofit public charity that acquires, develops, owns, and operates mission-driven organizations delivering healthcare, educational, and social services to vulnerable and underserved populations.
We exist so that dignified, high-quality care reaches the people and places too often left behind.
BH Wellness Foundation is a Delaware nonprofit corporation founded in 2026 to strengthen the safety net of care that underserved communities depend on. Our purpose is straightforward: to make sure that essential services — beginning with mental and behavioral health — remain available, well-run, and accountable to the public good rather than to private profit.
Rather than building from scratch, we identify established organizations that already deliver critical services and bring them under nonprofit stewardship. This approach preserves the care communities rely on today while allowing us to invest in its quality, stability, and reach for tomorrow — keeping trusted providers open, staffed, and serving without interruption.
The Internal Revenue Service has determined that the Foundation is exempt from federal income tax as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We are classified as a public charity — not a private foundation — a status that reflects our commitment to broad public benefit, transparency, and accountability to the communities we serve.
Recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; classified as a public charity, not a private foundation.
A Delaware nonprofit corporation operated exclusively for charitable purposes and the public benefit.
Dedicated to vulnerable and underserved populations, anchored in behavioral and mental health care.
A future in which behavioral health and essential human services are available to every community — regardless of income, geography, or circumstance — delivered by trusted providers held in permanent public trust.
We bring essential service providers under nonprofit stewardship — then invest in them for the long term.
We identify and acquire established providers of essential healthcare, educational, and social services that communities already depend on.
We invest in facilities, people, and programs — strengthening quality, capacity, and access to raise the standard of care.
We hold these organizations in nonprofit trust, aligning every resource with mission and the public good rather than private gain.
We operate them for the long term, ensuring continuity of care for the patients and communities that rely on them every day.
Most nonprofits rely on donations. Most investors rely on exits. We combine disciplined stewardship with a permanent, mission-first commitment to the communities we serve.
Every acquisition is evaluated for clinical quality, community need, and long-term sustainability before we move forward.
We structure each acquisition to stand on its own, protecting the wider mission while financing it prudently and independently.
We bring modern systems in technology, compliance, and operations so clinicians can focus on delivering care.
We hold ourselves accountable to real results — access, quality, and stability for patients and communities.
Demand for essential care — especially behavioral and mental health — continues to rise, yet many trusted community providers lack the capital and infrastructure to remain independent, navigate regulatory complexity, or expand.
By bringing these providers under permanent nonprofit ownership, we protect the care communities already rely on and extend it to more of the people who need it.
Our founding facility anchors a growing portfolio of mission-driven care.
Southern Winds Hospital is a licensed acute psychiatric hospital serving South Florida with inpatient behavioral health care. Under the Foundation’s ownership, the hospital continues to operate seamlessly — caring for patients without disruption while we invest in its people, programs, and long-term stability.
As the first facility in our portfolio, Southern Winds Hospital reflects the heart of our mission: keeping essential behavioral health care open, accessible, and accountable to the community it serves.
We offer mission-aligned providers a permanent nonprofit home — stability and support without losing the identity and clinical culture they have built.
Owners and clinicians seeking a lasting steward for the organization they built.
Established providers of healthcare, educational, and social services rooted in the communities they serve.
Hospitals, clinics, and programs delivering essential behavioral and mental health care.
Providers planning for retirement or transition who want continuity of care and mission.
Organizations that want to grow access and capacity without a short-cycle ownership model.
Organizations committed to underserved and at-risk communities.
Considering a transition, sale, or partnership? We would welcome a confidential conversation about joining the Foundation.
